The company functions as an integrated multi-disciplinary entity incorporating the disciplines of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning. Specific emphasis is placed on the development of a quality living environment and the interaction between development and conservation to create harmony. We have experience in the planning of developments in a number of climate zones and ecotones from arid and tropical to coastal areas and are a member organisation of the Green Building Council of South Africa. We believe in an organic approach to our work, that beauty and contextuality is necessary and that function and cost are paramount. Specific emphasis is placed on the balance and interplay between projects and their environment. Regular project collaboration is maintained with associated planning, engineering, construction, social and financial disciplines. We are constantly involved in mentoring and empowerment projects. Brink Stokes Mkhize draws on many years of valuable first-hand Design and Technical experience in diverse situations and landscapes to produce practical, pleasing and suitable solutions. Brink Stokes Mkhize has always had an interest in the practice of sustainability and its positive effects. This is specifically applied in the development of Green Buildings and their integration and interaction with landscapes. A game lodge in the Klein Karoo with views of the Swartberg mountain range. The Lodge comprises a game drive drop-off area, restaurant, conference centre, reception and shop as well as associated landscape structures.
