On Planet Earth, there’s a precious little place of sanctuary that is something quite unique. The owners were looking for a venue for a wedding when they stumbled upon Beyond the Moon. Sophia and her husband, Malherbe soon moved to Beyond the Moon. With her infectiously enthusiastic personality and superb organising skills, Sophia makes events run like a dream. Plans are underway to build a chapel/gazebo to allow more couples to tie the knot at this exquisite venue. Set in a clearing, surrounded by indigenous forest and with a river running through it, Beyond the Moon is a paradise situated a few minutes away from the Wilderness, in the heart of the glorious Garden Route, South Africa. Beyond the Moon shares its space with a working farm with sheep and miniature horses. Little ones are welcome to bring their favourite treats like carrots and apples to feed them. Beyond the Moon is home to six self-catering cottages, each one as individual and out of this world as can be. Like something out of a fairy tale, River Sanctuary is tucked away into a small forest clearing beside a crystal mountain stream. There are two bedrooms; the main with a double bed and a second bedroom with a bunk bed, suitable for children. There is a day bed and a double sleeper couch in the lounge, suitable for extra guests. The bathroom looks out over the verdant forest, and is also accessible from the verandah. One of the more spacious cottages, Froggy Lodge has two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with a queen-sized bed and double-bunk bed, which is suitable for children. A fully-equipped, self-catering kitchen completes the set up. Loerie has four bedrooms: one with queen-sized bed, another with twin beds, the third is en-suite (shower and bath) with a queen size bed. A cosy semi-detached, next door to Francolin Cottage, Kestrel also has lovely views of the surrounding indigenous forest and the welcoming Outeniqua Mountains. The main bedroom has a double bed, and the second bedroom has a double bunk, suitable for children. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom as three single beds. With sprawling lawns and beautiful, tranquil surrounds, Beyond the Moon is the ideal setting for virtually any event, large and proud, or small and intimate. Bathroom facilities include four toilets and one urinal. Beyond the Moon is situated in the center of all the Garden Route mountain bike routes and all the trail run routes, making it an ideal base for those wanting to experience these outdoor activities. Wilderness offers a host of outdoor activities like paddling, paragliding, hiking and swimming.En route to Plett, there is a Wolf Sanctuary, Eagle Sanctuary, Snake Park and Water World.
