Community Service in George

Presently we have only two part-time paid employees and get our primary support from the USA. All the others associated with our ministry are volunteers and casual workers from the communities in George. Community centers are erected where the outreach takes place. A typical center consists of a cement slab a roof held up by poles with drop cloth and wood siding around the sides to break the wind. We bring them hope through the Gospel, skills through our training program, and food with our feeding program. In order to cope with feeding and ministering to thousands of children, it requires a large group of volunteers. These volunteers have to rally and give of their time on a consecutive basis. L IFE Community Services was established to confront the dilemmas and crises facing impoverished children today. When the needs of children in crisis begin to outweigh the capacity to minister to them, action must be taken. Churches, businesses and other organizations are all looking for ways to compassionately confront the overwhelming blight children are experiencing throughout the world. LIFE Community Services ministry started in 1999 when a church (Patria Bible Church) in George (South Africa) saw that some children coming in off the street could not concentrate during services. The church inquired where these children came from and visited their community. Under the initiative of Myrtle Grimm and Dave Hooper, the outreach started in Parkdene. LIFE Community Services was registered as a not for profit organization and the work began. Since the inception, other churches in this area have caught the vision and are giving meaningful support. Currently we minister to underprivileged children and teenagers (newborn to 18 years old) with love, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, skills-training, nutritional food and meaningful programmes. We believe that by reaching the next generation we can make a positive impact on the community of George and surrounding area and South Africa. Our Vision: To mobilise local and overseas churches, foundations, businesses and individuals to give of their time and resources for the establishment of services to sections of the communities with the greatest needs. To establish LIFE CARE CENTERS in neediest communities. This enable us to bring resources to the point of need and provide a platform from where the Gospel can proceed. Life Community Services, seek to establish and provide to the society, integrated community based services that strengthen the family, believing that every person is unique and capable of reaching his or her highest potential. We see that this can successfully be done in the realm of a Christian outreach to the whole person (mind, spirit, soul and body). Life Community Services: work opportunity: handyman/ maintenance manager. Christian, Principled person; skilled and who can work cross culturally. We came to Marah and encountered bitter water but landed up at Elim! Spoke about importance of water and prayed for rain !
