Michael, a civil engineer and project manager with a passion for woodwork and renovations and his wife Nelleke, a chef and food stylist have combined their talents to create a unique space that showcases a perfect combination of contemporary and traditional decor. They have always had a dream to start a guest house in the Garden Route after living in Cape Town for twelve years and wanting a simpler life where they could partner in serving others and offering a unique personalised service to their guests. Whispering Oaks has a long history as it was established as a guest house in Restoration and redecorating is a on-going process, we aim to appeal to young professional business people, golfers and South African holiday-makers. Situated in the beautiful Caledon Street, with its wide sidewalks lined with oaks, it is the ideal location for a family holiday or business trip as it is within walking distance from the centre of town. Guests are within walking distance to many good child-friendly restaurants, the Botanical Gardens, the George Museum and only a few minute’s drive to the beachfront in Victoria Bay and local golf courses. Food, to me, is just as much about evocative memories and shared culture as the delicious flavours of the food itself. My passion for beautiful places and people fuels my desire to see more of this captivating world we live in and explore its flavours. They have introduced a revitalising contemporary influence, without compromising the home's historic character. Coffee/tea making facilities and bar fridges are available in all the rooms. Two studio self-catering units are equipped with induction stove, fridge and small kitchenette. Guests are within walking distance to many good restaurants and coffee shops in the centre of town, the George Botanical Gardens, as well as the George Museum.
